[RED looked away, unsure of what to say. Everything that came to mind was just laced with the same horror that colored his face.]

How did this, er... happen?

[And better yet, how could he keep it from happening to him?]

If I knew I'd tell ya. I woke up loike this in her house.

*Okay, he'd woken up in her nightclothes which was an embarrasement he never wanted to relive.*

I assume she's me but I keep turnin' into a dog so I haven't checked.

*He kept glaring at the ground, the dog ears on the top of his head folding back in agitation without him realizing it.*

[RED made an indistinct noise of mild disgust at that thought, but it did made sense (sort of, in the Paradise-has-talking-animals-and-dragons sense) that if BLU was Cassidy, then Cassidy might be BLU.]

Hn.

[His eyes trailed to Cas— er, BLU's ears, watching them fold back; his gaze resettled itself somewhere on his ceiling.]

Got to admit it's a bit disturbing, mate. And I thought my luck was rotten.

Yeah, I know.

Guess I should shut my mouth about yer damn sweater.

[In spite of the awkward and worrying situation in which his rival had apparently switched bodies with a girl, RED smirked at his remark.]

You havin' your own set of ears is the least of your problems now, I'd say.

Yeah yeah. I have a bloody tail too, ya jus' can't see it with this coat.

I've seen it. She brought me some sleep aid once.

[There was another awkward pause as he rubbed his neck.]

Well. Assuming she's in the same, er. Right. It could be worse.

I don't see how. An' I keep turnin' int' a dog. Which is actually preferable t' .... this.

*He gestured down at himself. This was so, so awkward.*

This better not last long.

Let's say Cassidy did turn into you and you into her. There are worse choices for people to have bein' you.

Hopefully she don't go messin' with none of my stuff. Or walkin' around makin' my leg worse.

She is a medic of some sort. I'd bet she'll take better care of your leg than you do.

Hnggh. Probably. This is so bloody unfair! How come you didn't wake up as th' raccoon or somethin'? This better not be jus' me an Cassidy. What a load 'f...

*His rant is cut off as he suddenly falls over, changing back into the dog.*

[RED shuddered at the thought, still wondering why this had happened to BLU and not him. Knowing his luck, he would've ended up as the raccoon or Pyro, or maybe even the masked bloke who'd put him in critical condition. He was perfectly willing to accept his good fortune for the time being. As far as he was concerned, he deserved some after all the stress he'd been put through.]

To be honest, mate? I like ya better as a dog, too.

[He limped back to one of the chairs in the den, taking a seat with an exhausted groan.]

Here's a thought: why don't ya go find Ringo? I'm sure he'd know somethin' about being a dog. Maybe he'll teach ya how to beg if you bark real nice.

*He snorted irritably and scrambled to his feet, following along behind RED.

Snarling at the suggestion he laid down on the ground with his head on his paws. This was awkward and he wanted it to end as soon as possible. Who knew what Cassidy was doing with his body either. Or his things.*

Look mate, it could be worse. You could have Pyro in your body. Probably weigh a hundred more than you ought to when she's done with ya.

*Considering how skinny he was that would probably only put him 20 pounds over where he should be. He whines and scratches his ear with one paw.

Of course if Pyro was him, he'd be Pyro, and that wouldn't actually be that much better than being a dog girl. *

[RED shuddered again, realizing that if BLU was Pyro, then Pyro would be BLU, and that was a body he did not want against him in the night. Not that he wanted her coddling him in his sleep, or anybody sharing his bed, for that matter. He preferred to sleep alone. In fact, why had he thought of that at all?

The conversation with Chibi came to mind, one he was still trying to forget. Trying to push that tone of denial from his mind, he reacted unthinkingly to the whine, his arm sliding off the rest and giving BLU's ears a scratch.]

*His first reaction was to lean into the scratch happily, because in his new dog body that felt amazing.

But after a few seconds he realized what he was doing and got to his feet in an instant, backing away and snapping at RED's hand.*

[As soon as he felt the shift beneath his fingers, BLU's change in mood absolutely tangible, RED jerked his hand away.]

Right. Sorry, mate. Wasn't thinking clearly. Haven't done much of that lately at all.

[He fumbled with his hood awkwardly, wishing his hat was there to hide his face.]

*He snarled irritably and went to lay on the rug well out of RED's reach.

He had enjoyed that far too much, and that was downright creepy.*

[RED agreed, as evidenced by his nervous mannerisms coming to him. The whole situation was strange and bizarre and he never wanted to think of it again. In fact, he was positive he'd be thrilled to go back to Sawmill and completely forget the past three months had happened.

The silence was disturbed by RED's stomach, which growled miserably. His hand shoved itself over his face as he let out a sigh.]

Guess I'm going to have to go back sometime.

*BLU is currently engaged in the all important doggy task of rolling around on his back trying to scratch an itch he couldn't reach with his leg. Stupid itchy fur. He stops and looks over at RED upside down before standing up, giving himself a shake and then barking once.

Back to RED base where all the food is? That's the best thing you've said all day.*

[RED gave the dog a smile before remembering it was his rival; the look vanished as quickly as it appeared. Using his crutch, he got to his feet.]

Right. Come on, then. I'm sure we can find somethin' for you while we're there, too.

[Hobbling to the front door, he held it open for BLU, hoping that this change wasn't permanent. If it was, he was going to have to make a bigger dog door.]

*He bounded down the steps, and faceplanted into the street. Okay, still getting the hang of being a dog here. He shook his head and pawed at his nose before sitting down at the bottom of the step and waiting for RED.

Judging from how he was walking he probably shouldn't be moving too much. Leave it to RED to be too stubborn to take care of himself.*

[Having seen his rival-turned-dog tumble into the street, RED wasn't feeling too confident about his own trip down the stairs. Then again, BLU had an extra set of legs he was probably still getting used to. That did make things complicated.

Going down the stairs one by one, RED and his crutch finally made it to the bottom, already feeling and looking more worn than he liked. He gave BLU a nod before heading off in one direction, sticking to the sidewalks and avoiding the snow that still clung to the ground in many places. After a while, he spoke to take his mind off the throbbing from his leg.]

Not that I don't think you're a bad dog or anything, but this change better not be permanent. I'll bet Cassidy is a bloody awful shot.
